Customers of HDFC Bank are encouraged to utilize alternative transaction methods such as Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for money transfers on April 1, 2024. In a communication to customers, HDFC Bank emphasized the potential delays in outward NEFT transactions and urged clients to opt for IMPS, RTGS, or UPI to minimize inconvenience.

Bank Operations on April 1, 2024

While banks will be shut in most states, exceptions include Mizoram, Chandigarh, Sikkim, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya. Customers are advised to verify the list of bank holidays before visiting their bank branch on Monday.

Exchange and Deposit of Rs 2000 Notes Unavailable

Additionally, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the suspension of exchange and deposit services for Rs 2,000 banknotes on April 1, 2024. The interruption is attributed to the Annual Closing of Accounts operations at the 19 Issue Offices of the Reserve Bank of India. The facility is expected to resume on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, as per RBI’s notification issued on March 28, 2024.

In response to a request from the Government of India to account for all government transactions for the fiscal year 2023-24, all branches of banks handling government receipts and payments will remain open on Sunday, March 31, 2024.
