IT services giant Infosys has implemented a new initiative titled “In-Person Collab Weeks,” requiring employees in engineering-Internet of Things (ENG-IoT) projects to be physically present at designated campuses during specific weeks in each quarter. The company, headquartered in Bengaluru, has communicated this mandate through an internal email obtained by ET.
According to the email, Infosys will designate several crucial weeks each quarter as In-Person Collab Weeks, necessitating all employees’ presence in the office. This directive supplements the existing guidance on the return to office (RTO) and encourages a hybrid work model. The employees are urged to adapt to this change and plan their work accordingly, with a recommendation to spend at least 10 days per month in office, as outlined in a previous hybrid work policy introduced in November.
While the email lacks specific details on implementation, sources indicate that the initiative is likely to take effect immediately, coinciding with the start of the new financial year on April 1. Infosys plans to allocate a minimum of six weeks per quarter as In-Person Collab Weeks, providing employees with the flexibility to choose the number of days they work from the office during these periods.
In a statement attributed to AVP & global delivery head – IOT Vikas Gupta, employees are encouraged to collaborate with their managers to determine the most suitable days and times to fulfill the 10-day work-from-office requirement. The email mentions the importance of cooperation and flexibility in meeting both individual and project needs.
Despite some mixed responses to the 10-day work-from-office rule, Infosys remains committed to increasing campus attendance. The email hints at forthcoming policy adjustments aimed at further enhancing office turnout, suggesting the company’s ongoing efforts to refine its approach to hybrid work.
