The stock market witnessed a long weekend, spanning from March 29th to March 31st, marking the conclusion of the 2022-23 financial year for market-related instruments and the beginning of FY25. In March, there were three trading holidays: March 8th (Mahashivratri), March 25th (Holi), and March 29th (Good Friday) and March 31 will mark the final trading holiday for March 2024.
Stock Market Holidays In April
The trading will resume on April 1, 2024 on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). However, April 2024 will witness two scheduled closures within the month. The trading will be suspended on April 11th to observe Id-Ul-Fitr (Ramadan Eid), followed by another pause on April 17th to commemorate Shri Ram Navami.

Stock Market Timings
During weekdays, the day kicks off with the Pre-open session, where order entry and modification are allowed from 09:00 to 09:08 hrs, subject to a random closure in the final minute. Following this, pre-open order matching commences promptly.
During the Regular trading session, the Normal/Limited Physical Market opens at 09:15 hrs and concludes at 15:30 hrs, providing ample time for trading activities.
After the Regular trading session, the Closing Session takes place from 15:40 to 16:00 hrs, providing a window for final trading activities and closing positions before the market officially closes for the day.
