Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), a prominent player in India’s renewable energy sector, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 10,000 megawatts (MW) of operational portfolio. This accomplishment makes AGEL India’s first company to achieve such a feat, solidifying its position as a key contributor to the country’s renewable energy goals.
The operational portfolio of AGEL comprises 7,393 MW of solar capacity, 1,401 MW of wind capacity, and 2,140 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity, totaling 10,934 MW. This vast capacity is instrumental in delivering reliable, affordable, and clean power to the national grid, powering over 5.8 million homes and avoiding approximately 21 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
Mr. Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed pride in AGEL’s achievement and said, “We are proud to be India’s first das hazari in the renewables space,”
He also highlighted the company’s rapid growth and its commitment to facilitating India’s transition to clean, reliable, and affordable energy. He emphasised AGEL’s vision to achieve 45,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, with the construction of the world’s largest renewable energy plant in Khavda, Gujarat, as a pivotal step in this direction.
AGEL’s operations are aligned with sustainable practices, focusing on enhancing natural and social capital. The company’s operating portfolio is certified ‘single-use plastic free’, ‘zero waste-to-landfill’, and ‘water positive for plants with more than 200 MW capacity’. These efforts reflect AGEL’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and its dedication to fostering a sustainable future.
Furthermore, AGEL’s contribution to India’s renewable energy goals is substantial, representing the largest greenfield expansion in the country’s renewable energy sector. The company’s operational portfolio constitutes about 11 per cent of India’s installed utility-scale solar and wind capacity, contributing over 15 per cent of India’s utility-scale solar installations. Additionally, AGEL has created over 3,200 direct green jobs, further contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.
AGEL’s ambitious renewable energy project at Khavda in Kutch, Gujarat, aims to develop the world’s largest renewable energy plant with a capacity of 30,000 MW. Spread across 538 sq km, the project signifies AGEL’s commitment to driving the clean energy transition on a monumental scale.
On Wednesday, the shares of Adani Green Energy closed at Rs 1879.55, .73 per cent down from the previous day’s closing
