The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has issued a stern caution to investors regarding the proliferation of fake videos featuring its Managing Director and CEO, Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan, purportedly recommending stocks.
“NSE in a few investment and advisory audio and video clips falsely created using technology. Such videos seem to have been created using sophisticated technologies to imitate the voice and facial expressions of Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO of NSE,” NSE said.
The NSE has urged investors to exercise vigilance and verify information obtained from official NSE channels, including its website www.nseindia.com and official social media handles.
NSE CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan also wrote on X, “Caution – clarification on fake audio/ videos of NSE MD and CEO recommending specific stocks – circulating on social media for last few days.”
The cautionary statement follows the alarming emergence of manipulated audio and video clips falsely attributing stock recommendations to Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan. These videos employ sophisticated technology to mimic the CEO’s voice and facial expressions, misleading unsuspecting investors.
The investors are emphatically advised against relying on such fraudulent content for investment decisions or any other financial advice. NSE emphatically clarifies that its employees are not authorized to endorse or recommend specific stocks.
Furthermore, NSE has initiated efforts to request online platforms to remove these deceptive videos wherever feasible.
