TCS Hiring: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced a hiring spree and onboarded 10,000 freshers in its latest recruitment drive. This move comes as a relief to colleges and students amidst a challenging employment landscape, particularly within the IT sector, which has witnessed reduced hiring by major companies due to subdued demand.
Recruitment Procedure TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT)
Freshers are being recruited through the National Qualifier Test (NQT), a skills assessment platform developed by TCS iON. This comprehensive test evaluates candidates’ cognitive abilities and job-specific skills, serving as a crucial tool for recruitment not only within the Tata Group but also for external firms.
Phases of Recruitment: Prioritising College Partnerships
The recruitment process is being conducted in two phases. The first phase, targeting “priority colleges,” commenced earlier, while the second phase is scheduled for April 26. Through this strategic approach, TCS aims to streamline its hiring process and cater to a diverse talent pool.
Three Categories of Hiring: Tailored Packages
TCS’s hiring strategy encompasses three distinct categories: Ninja, Digital, and Prime. The Ninja category offers an annual package of Rs 3.36 lakh, catering to various roles. Meanwhile, the Digital category presents an attractive package of Rs 7 lakh per annum. For select candidates, the Prime category offers an even higher annual package ranging from Rs 9 to 11.5 lakh.
Recruitment Timeline and Process
According to a TOI report, the recruitment process commenced in January, signalling TCS’s proactive stance towards fresh talent acquisition. Milind Lakkad, TCS’s Chief HR Officer, highlighted the company’s enthusiasm for campus hiring during a December earnings call, affirming their commitment to welcoming freshers into the organization. TCS’s target for the financial year 2023-24 was to hire 40,000 freshers, reflecting its sustained investment in nurturing young talent.
